Last week, the Premier announced the re-opening of some business in Ontario, including the resumption of some healthcare services. However, Directive #2 from the Chief Medical Officer of Health is still in place which means that non-essential/non-urgent healthcare services are still not permitted.

The Ministry is working on amendments to Directive #2 and has indicated they will be taking a staged approach to the resumption of non-essential/non-urgent healthcare services, starting with elective surgeries and procedures and in-person counselling.

The amendments to Directive #2 being worked on now by the Ministry are limited to elective surgeries and procedures and counselling. There is no set date for when Directive #2 will be amended to allow a return to non-essential practice for dietitians. Once we hear more, we will inform you.

In the meantime, the College is working on guidance for dietitians preparing to return to the provision of in-person non-essential services.
