The College of Dietitians of Ontario (CDO) is pleased to announce the acclamation of Dawn van Engelen as the new Board Director of District 2 and Navita Viveky to District 4.

Welcome Back, Dawn van Engelen, RD to the CDO Board of Directors
Dawn brings 28 years of experience as a Registered Dietitian. During this time, she’s created lasting relationships with RDs in community care, public health, and in primary care teams. This is her second time as District 2 Board Director, having served from June 2017 to January 2019.

“I’m proud to have contributed to a number of policy changes in my last appointment,” said Dawn. “I look forward to being involved once again at the executive level and having the chance to promote the many opportunities for CDO engagement for entry level dietitians.”

Dawn is a graduate of the Mount Saint Vincent University with a B.Sc.Hc. and a Masters in Bioethics from University of Toronto. She’s an avid runner, having completed over 20 half marathons, one full marathon and two ultramarathons (50km distance).

Welcome Navita Viveky, RD to the CDO Board of Directors
Navita Viveky is a Registered Dietitian with a Doctorate in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Saskatchewan. She’s worked in the dietetics field for the last 18 years in clinical, acute, outpatient and community care in western Canada.

Having taught several nutrition courses at UofS, Navita stated “I firmly believe in dissemination of knowledge and have had the great pleasure to present my Masters and Doctorate work at national and international platforms. This has led to developing knowledge translation tools in the field of Nutrition and Dietetics.”

Navita has been published in several peer-reviewed scientific journals and currently works as a Senior Health Policy Analyst with the Government of Canada along with running a private dietetics practice. Apart from her professional endeavors, she is a mother of an eight-year-old and enjoys dancing and travelling with her family.

Farewell and thank you to Karine Dupuis Pominville
We are saddened to announce Karine Dupuis Pominville’s resignation as Board Director for District 5. Karine came to CDO as a relatively new RD in June 2021. A graduate of the University of Ottawa and a Northern Ontario dweller, Karine brought a valuable perspective to dietetic services for those in underserved communities.

Karine worked diligently with the Board to create lasting change for professional dietitians and public protection. She served on the Quality Assurance Committee and Patient Relations Committee during her tenure. We wish her the very best in all future endeavours.
