College Update

Pandemic Survey - Input Due by September 7

In preparation for a second wave of  COVID-19 this fall, we are seeking your feedback about College communications and program changes that were made during this unprecedented and difficult pandemic. Were the communications helpful? Did the College do enough to answer your questions and concerns? What more would you suggest?

This survey will take approximate 10-15 minutes to complete. Your responses are entirely confidential and will only be presented in an aggregate format to inform College actions during this pandemic. Access the survey here.

Virtual Care, Technology and Social Media

We have updated the section on technology and social media on our website. It now has a new title to focus more clearly on virtual care.  You will find links to all the information you need to know on one page: position statement, legislative requirements and information about requirements for confidentiality, privacy, information security, record keeping and more.  Check it out here.

Ethics and Professionalism: Adapting to Change

The 2020 annual College workshop Ethics and Professionalism: Adapting to Change will provide an opportunity to continue the discussions from the 2019 Code of Ethics and ethical practice dilemmas, along with a discussion about new challenges faced during the pandemic. Virtual workshops will be scheduled from October to December 2020. Keep an eye out for communications on registration in September.

Emergency Orders Extended

New legislation, Reopening Ontario (A Flexible Response to COVID-19) Act, 2020, came into effect July 24, 2020. It continues orders made under sections 7.0.2 and 7.1 of the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act, 2020. The orders will remain valid for a period of 30 days, and may be extended for additional periods of up to 30 days, afterwards.

There are no changes with respect to the orders that impact dietitians.  We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates accordingly. For more information, consult the College’s COVID-19 Update page.

Policy for External Consultations, Research and Surveys

The College often receives requests to participate in external consultations and research (e.g. provide letters of support or partner in a study) or to send surveys to members for research purposes. We have created a decision-making tool to help us determine whether we should participate.  Generally, we will only consider accepting requests if they are directly related to the College's mandate of regulating the profession of dietetics in the interest of public protection.  View the policy here.

Also, see our policy on Advertising and Third Party Communications

Both policies are available from College's website. Scroll to the bottom of the home page.
