THIS workshop series explores privilege, oppression, and building respectful relationships in dietetic practice. This is a time for reflection and action as we recognize the 10th anniversary of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada Calls to Action Report.
Offered in collaboration with our regulatory partners in Saskatchewan, New Brunswick Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland & Labrador, the series hopes to connect dietitians and demonstrate awareness of Indigenous values and ways of knowing.
Format & Registration
The series will be delivered in two parts:
- Part 1: Workshop – Truth (October 3, 12 – 1 p.m. EST)
Facilitated by Drs. Stephanie Nixon and Ed/Tecumseh Connors (Future Building), this session introduces the Coin Model of Privilege and Critical Allyship, offering a reflective framework to examine unearned advantage and disadvantage in our professional and personal lives. - Part 2: Panel Discussion – Reconciliation (October 23, 12 – 1 p.m. EST)
Building on Part 1, this moderated panel will weave Indigenous teachings, lived experiences, and storytelling to guide culturally responsive and inclusive dietetic care. Panelists include Dr. Ed/Tecumseh Connors and Kelly Gordon, RD.
To gain a full understanding, registrants are strongly encouraged to attend both sessions, as Part 2 will be building on the learnings delivered in Part 1.

Both sessions will be offered via Zoom in English with live French translation.
