CDO is pleased to announce the launch of the redeveloped Jurisprudence Knowledge and Assessment Tool (JKAT) for the 2026 cohort. At its Board meeting in March 2026, the CDO Board of Directors approved the implementation of the new JKAT blueprint, including transition to a single-version assessment model, for pilot implementation in April 2026.
The JKAT is a mandatory component of the Quality Assurance Program, designed to strengthen dietitians’ knowledge and application of laws, standards, guidelines, and ethics for practice in Ontario. It must be completed within one year of registration and every five years thereafter.
What’s new for 2026?
- A new blueprint aligned with current legislation, professional standards, and ethical expectations across all practice settings.
- Delivery on the improved SkilSure 2.0 platform for a more flexible, user-friendly experience.
- Updated assessment structure: 80 questions (70 scored + up to 10 experimental items).
- Enhanced feedback, including item-level rationales and access to updated resources.
- Integration of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (EDI-B) principles through inclusive language and diverse scenarios.

- Passing score: 90%, within a maximum of 3 attempts.
- Format: Open-book, with a 90-day completion window.
- Certificate awarded upon successful completion.
