The voting period for the 2025 Board election opens March 17 and runs until April 16 at 5 p.m. This is the second election under our new governance model that emphasizes core competencies for board members, a unified provincial district and a streamlined board structure.

Registrants who are eligible to vote will receive voting instructions and a link to their ballot by email on March 17. Registrants can vote anytime until April 16 at 5 p.m. This year, there are two open board seats, which means you can vote for two candidates.

Your vote matters. Board directors serve an important role by influencing CDO’s strategic direction and contributing to a healthier Ontario through excellence in dietetic regulation.

Election facts:

  • Board directors are elected for a three-year term.
  • The College is gradually reducing the number of professional directors elected to the Board from eight to six by 2025. Aligning with regulatory best practices, this change is intended to create parity between the number of elected directors and public directors to achieve a balanced public-professional perspective.
  • Candidates are screened by the Governance Committee prior to being approved to run in the election. This ensures they meet the core competencies and attributes. This process is critical in ensuring board members have a clear understanding of CDO’s public protection mandate, can effectively participate in CDO work, can assess and evaluate information and can work collaboratively with colleagues and staff.
