Scope of Practice Request for Laboratory Test Ordering authority for dietitians

Dietitians don’t yet have the independent authority to order laboratory tests for the purpose of assessing and monitoring nutrition conditions. Since 2010, the College has been working with the Ministry to expand the dietetic scope of practice to authorize dietitians to order these tests. In March 2018, in response to the Ministry’s latest request for additional information, the College also submitted the updated list of lab tests to be included in the dietetic scope of practice. The Ministry is continuing its analysis of the requested laboratory test ordering authority for dietitians. Below is a list of documents related to this topic.
